Stripe
Stripe in 365 business Banking: retrieve and apply Stripe transactions and fees, and collect invoices via Stripe.
Stripe is a payment service provider for online payments by credit card, debit card and other payment methods. With 365 business Banking you keep your Stripe account as a bank account in Business Central. The movements of your Stripe balance are imported as bank transactions into the payment reconciliation journal. You collect your customers' invoices via Stripe.
Functions
| Function | Supported |
|---|---|
| Retrieve transactions (payments, refunds, fees) | yes, from the balance transactions of the Stripe account |
| Fees | as separate lines |
| Collect payment | yes, with the customer's stored payment method |
| Credit transfers, standing orders | no |
Prerequisites
- An active Stripe account.
- A secret API key from the Stripe Dashboard. Stripe offers two kinds:
- Standard keys allow full API access and need no permissions of their own.
- Restricted keys allow only the functions you release, which reduces the risk of misuse.
Recommendation
Permissions for restricted keys
For transaction retrieval, a restricted key needs this permission:
| Resource Type | Permission | Use in Business Central |
|---|---|---|
Balance Transactions | Read | Reads the balance transactions for transaction retrieval. When you connect, Business Central uses the same call to check whether the key is valid. |
Collection requires additional permissions. See Collect payments via Stripe.
Connect
You connect Stripe with the Connect Bank Account wizard: you choose the bank account to which the payments are posted and enter the secret API key. Step by step: Connect Stripe.
Retrieve transactions
You retrieve Stripe transactions like for any bank account with Retrieve Bank Transactions. Fees are created as separate lines: Retrieve Stripe transactions.
Collect payments
If a customer has stored a payment method at Stripe, you can collect invoices via Stripe when posting, individually, in batches or in the cash receipt journal: Collect payments via Stripe.
