Connect Shopify
How to connect Shopify to 365 business Banking: enter your store name and authorize Business Central at Shopify, with the public app or your own.
Applies to: Shopify
Prerequisites
- A Shopify store with Shopify Payments and your Shopify credentials.
- Your store name, for example
mystoreformystore.myshopify.com. - Pop-ups are allowed for Business Central in the browser. The authorization at Shopify opens in a separate window.
Step by step
- Choose the Search icon, enter Bank Accounts and choose the Connect Bank Accounts action. The Connect Bank Account wizard opens.
- Choose Next.
- On the Choose your banking provider page, set Provider to Shopify and choose Next.
- On the Choose the bank account page, choose Create a new bank account or Use an existing bank account and choose Next.
- On the Name your Shopify store page, enter the name of your myshopify.com store under Store Name. For the public app, leave Private App (Yes/No) empty. Client ID and Client Secret are always in the list. You only need them if you registered an app of your own (see below); otherwise, leave both empty. Choose Next.
- On the Authorize Business Central with Shopify page, choose Continue to authorization in the window that opens, sign in to Shopify and confirm the installation of the 365 business Banking app in your store.
- After successful authorization, a confirmation is shown. Return to Business Central and choose Finish.
You enter your Shopify credentials at Shopify; Business Central does not store them.
During the beta phase, 365 business Banking writes technical telemetry about the calls to Shopify, such as the status and the number of attempts. It contains no access tokens, no response texts with transaction data, no query variables and no addresses of your shop.
Connect with your own (private) app
Besides the 365 business Banking app, which simplifies connecting, you can use your own app, for example if your policies do not allow third-party apps in the store. Setting up your own app requires more effort.
Create your own app in Shopify:
- Open https://dev.shopify.com/ and sign in.
- Choose Apps in the left menu and then Create app.
- Under Start from Dev Dashboard, enter a name, for example
365 business Banking (Private), and choose Create. - Create a version with these settings:
- App URL:
https://banking.365businessapi.com/api/v1.0/shopify/connect - Redirect URL:
https://banking.365businessapi.com/api/v1.0/shopify/callback - Scopes:
read_shopify_payments_accounts,read_shopify_payments_payouts - Optional Scopes:
read_orders - API Version:
2026-01
- App URL:
- Choose Release and confirm the release.
In Business Central: in the Name your Shopify store step, enter Yes for Private App (Yes/No) and the Client ID and Client Secret of your own app. You enter all three in the same list. If the Client ID or the Client Secret is missing, the next step reports "Your Shopify Connection Setup is invalid. …". Then continue with step 6 as described above.
Shopify Connection Setup
You open the Shopify Connection Setup page on the Bank Account Card via Actions > Banking Provider > Configuration. It contains Store Name, Mode (Public App or Private App), for a private app Client ID and Client Secret, the granted Scopes and Is Authenticated.
Update the connection
If 365 business Banking installs further functions in your store with a new version, or you want to adjust the connection's permissions, renew the authorization:
- On the Bank Account Card, choose Actions > Banking Provider > Configuration.
- Choose Authenticate and follow the instructions in the browser, as when you first connected.
Disconnect
On the Bank Account Card, choose Actions > Banking Provider > Disconnect and confirm the question "Do you really want to disconnect this bank account from the … banking service?". Business Central deletes the payment service provider's setup for this bank account, including the authorization; transactions that are already imported are kept. To connect the account again later, authorize Business Central with Shopify in the wizard again.
