Address validation
| Message | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "The current address does not contain enough information to validate the address information. Address, City and Post Code are required for validatation." | The Address, City, or Post Code fields are not completely filled in. | Complete the missing fields, and save the record again. |
| "Address verification failed due to the following error:…\ \Do you want to proceed without checking the address?" | The address validation service answered with an error, for example because of a timeout or an unreachable connection. | Choose Yes to save the record without validation, or No to correct the entry and try again. |
| "An error occured while processing your request.\ \Error Message: …" | The service answered the request with a technical error. | Note the error message. If the error occurs repeatedly, contact the Service Desk. |
| "The validation of the address failed.\No address could be found that matches the criteria." | The service did not find a match for the entered address, usually because the address is incorrect or unknown to the service. | Check the entry for typing errors. If the address is correct, mark it as validated manually (action Set Validated). See Manage address data. |
| "Record type … is not supported. Please contact your partner to add support for record …." | A third-party app or a web service call requested address validation for a table that is not supported. | Only use validation for Contact, Customer, Vendor, Alternative Address, Order Address, or Ship-to Address, or contact your partner. |

Current progress: … % (… of … records)." | The address data initialization is running in the background. | Wait for it to finish, or open Show initialization to follow the progress. | "The address data initialization has been scheduled and will be executed in a background session. Until the initialization is completed, addresses may be validated more than once." | The initialization is scheduled for a background session but has not started yet. | Wait for the scheduled run, or start a batch manually. |
Address not checked automatically
An address is not checked automatically when one of the following applies:
- Insert without a later change: Automatic validation only runs when an existing record is modified. If a record is created with a complete address and never changed afterward, for example through an API or web service insert, no validation takes place.
- Scope: The Address Validation Scope field excludes the current session, for example when the scope is limited to sessions with a user interface and the change happens without one, or the other way round. See How address validation works.
- Switch for the record type disabled: Automatic validation for the affected record type (for example Contact, Customer, Vendor) is switched off in the Address Validation Setup.
- Known address: The entered address matches an address that was already validated in the address directory. The service is not called again, and the existing address is applied unchanged. See Address directory.
