# Euro urgent payment via EBICS

Same-day transfer in euros: how to carry out a euro urgent payment via EBICS in 365 business Banking, provided that your bank offers it.

The **euro urgent payment** (German: Euro-Eilüberweisung) is a transfer in euros that your bank carries out on the same day. It does not belong to the SEPA schemes. It is an order of its own defined by the German Banking Industry Committee (Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft), and a bank offers it only by separate agreement. In 365 business Banking you choose it through a banking **Payment Method** of its own. The whole payment journal is then sent to the bank as one urgent order.

**Applies to:** EBICS (only if your bank offers the euro urgent payment for the EBICS participant)

## Euro urgent payment compared with instant credit transfer

Both schemes transfer payments to the recipient quickly. However, they are different schemes, which 365 business Banking represents as two different banking payment methods.

| | **SEPA Instant Credit Transfer** | **Euro urgent payment** |
|---|---|---|
| Scheme | SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) | same-day individual payment through the large-value payment system, usually TARGET2 (T2) |
| Credited | within seconds, around the clock, weekends included | on the same bank working day, if the order reaches the bank before its cut-off time |
| Typical for | urgent payments up to the limit the bank sets | urgent or large amounts; depending on the bank with a fee of its own |
| In the file | service level `INST` | service level `URGP`, charge bearer `SHAR` |
| Banking **Payment Method** on the payment method | *SEPA Instant Credit Transfer* | *Euro Urgent Credit Transfer* |
| Connection in 365 business Banking | PSD2/XS2A via finAPI (depending on the bank) and EBICS (e.g. order type `CIP`), if the bank offers it | EBICS only (`CCU`, or `XCT` with option `URG`), if the bank offers it |

Use the euro urgent payment when a payment in euros must reach the recipient on the same day and an instant credit transfer is not possible, for example because the recipient's bank does not receive instant transfers or the amount is above the limit. For more information on instant credit transfers, see [SEPA credit transfer](sepa-credit-transfer.md). For all other payments in euros, use the SEPA credit transfer. Payments in other currencies are [international payments](international-payment.mdx).

PSD2/XS2A via finAPI, camt/pain files and payment service providers do not offer the euro urgent payment.

## Prerequisites

- The bank account is connected via [EBICS](../connections/ebics/index.mdx), and your EBICS contract includes the euro urgent payment. Under EBICS 3.0 the order is `XCT` with option `URG` (format pain.001), under EBICS 2.5 order type `CCU`.
- Whether your bank offers the euro urgent payment for the participant, 365 business Banking reads from the bank's customer data (HTD) when the account is connected. The **Capabilities** FactBox on the bank account card shows it as **Euro Urgent Money Transfer**. If the bank does not offer the order, **Carry Out Payment** stops with a message (see [Troubleshooting](#troubleshooting)). If your bank added the order to the contract later, choose **Get Bank Accounts** on the bank account card (for accounts whose transactions are read via EBICS) or connect the bank account again through the wizard. Both read the bank's customer data (HTD) again. Only then does the bank account have the **Euro Urgent Money Transfer** capability. See [Get Bank Accounts](../bank-accounts/bank-account-card.mdx#get-bank-accounts).
- A **payment method** with the banking **Payment Method** *Euro Urgent Credit Transfer*. See [Payment methods](../setup/payment-method-setup.md).
- A payment journal batch of its own with the EBICS bank account as balancing account and this payment method as **Payment Method Code**. See [Journal batches for Banking](../setup/journal-batches.mdx).
- The recipients have a released bank account with name and IBAN. The BIC is optional.

## Step by step

1. Choose the **Search** icon, enter **Payment Journals** and open the journal batch for euro urgent payments.
2. Enter the lines or have them suggested. Every line must be in euros and contain the amount, **Message to Recipient** and the recipient's bank account.
3. Choose **Payment** > **Carry Out Payment** and confirm the question "Do you want to carry out the payment for payment journal …?".
4. If a payment of more than EUR 12,500 goes to a recipient outside Germany, Business Central asks: "… of these payments go to a recipient outside Germany and amount to more than EUR 12,500. Payments to non-residents over EUR 12,500 must be reported to the Deutsche Bundesbank under section 67 of the German Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance (AWV). … Do you want to continue?" Choose **Yes** to continue. Choose **No** to cancel the process (see [Notes](#notes)).
5. The **Carry Out Payment** page shows the bank account, the EBICS participant, the number of payments, the total amount and the message ID under **Review your payment details**. Choose **Next**.
6. Business Central writes the file, signs it with the key of the EBICS participant and hands it in as one order.
7. If your bank contract requires a second signature, release the order in your banking program. See [Second signature at the bank (VEU)](../connections/ebics/distributed-signature.mdx).
8. Post the journal once the lines have the **Payment Status** *Completed*.

## What you see afterwards

- The message "The Euro urgent credit transfers were handed in at your bank under order number …. They stay pending until your bank has carried them out."
- The lines are *Pending*. Your bank reports on euro urgent payments in a status report of its own (pain.002; under EBICS 3.0 `REP` with option `URG`, under EBICS 2.5 order type `CUZ`). **Update Payment Status** and the scheduled follow-up fetch it and set the lines to *Completed* or *Rejected*.
- On the **EBICS Submissions** page the submission is marked in the **Euro Urgent Credit Transfer** column. See [EBICS jobs and submissions](../connections/ebics/jobs-and-submissions.mdx).

**Carry Out Payment and Post** only posts lines that are already *Completed*. Pending lines stay in the journal with a notice until the bank reports them as carried out.

## Notes

- **One order per journal.** The euro urgent payment is not set per line. The banking payment method of the journal batch applies to all lines, and the journal is never split into SEPA and foreign orders. The file is a pain.001.001.09 with service level `URGP` and charge bearer `SHAR` (shared charges). The bank books every payment individually.
- **Euros only, IBAN required, BIC optional.** Without a BIC the file leaves out the recipient bank, as the German Banking Industry Committee provides. If the recipient's bank is outside the EU/EEA, the payment also needs the recipient's town and country. These details are taken from the address of the vendor, customer or employee, or from the remit-to address.
- **Posting date** as for the SEPA credit transfer: not in the past; in the future only if the bank account allows future-dated transfers.
- **AWV reporting.** Payments to non-residents over EUR 12,500 must be reported to the Deutsche Bundesbank under section 67 of the German Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance (AWV). Business Central reminds you of this on **Carry Out Payment** but does not create the report itself. The payment does not contain this report. File it separately, for example through the Bundesbank's reporting portal.
- The euro urgent payment is only available via EBICS. Other connections do not offer the banking payment method.

## Troubleshooting

| Message | Cause and remedy |
|---|---|
| "We're sorry, but payment method Euro Urgent Credit Transfer is not supported by bank account …." | The bank account is not connected via EBICS, or the bank's order overview held no euro urgent payment when it was last read. Carry the payment out as a SEPA credit transfer, or have your bank enable the order and then choose **Get Bank Accounts** on the bank account card or connect the bank account again through the wizard (see [Prerequisites](#prerequisites)). |
| "The bank does not offer Euro urgent credit transfers for this EBICS participant (XCT/URG or CCU). …" | The bank's order overview does not list the order for this participant. No order is handed in. Ask your bank to add the order to your EBICS contract and then read the customer data again. Alternatively, carry the payments out as SEPA credit transfers. |
| "Payment journal line … cannot be carried out as a Euro urgent credit transfer. A Euro urgent credit transfer can only be made in euro, and the line is in …." | The line has another currency. Carry it out from a journal with the banking payment method *SEPA Credit Transfer*. Via EBICS, it is then handed in as a [foreign credit transfer](international-payment.mdx). |
| "Recipient details are incomplete for payment journal line …. A Euro urgent credit transfer needs the recipient name and the IBAN." | Complete the name and IBAN on the recipient's bank account. |
| "The … of payment method … cannot be used for bank account …. Bank account … pays under the international (SWIFT) rules. A Euro urgent credit transfer is handed in over EBICS only, where the bank offers it." | The bank account pays under the international (SWIFT) rules. Use a bank account connected via EBICS. |
| "Line … has no recipient town and country. A Euro urgent credit transfer to a bank outside the EU/EEA needs the postal address of the recipient." | Enter the recipient's town and country. |
