# Retrieve Amazon Pay transactions

How 365 business Banking imports the lines from your Amazon Pay settlement report, including fees and payout, into the payment reconciliation journal.

**Applies to:** Amazon Pay

## Retrieve transactions

In the payment reconciliation journal of the Amazon Pay account or in the list of payment reconciliation journals, choose **Retrieve Bank Transactions**. Business Central reads the settlement report Amazon Pay creates automatically with every settlement and creates a line per report row: payments (capture), refunds, chargebacks, A-to-z Guarantee claims, disputes, reserves, carryovers and adjustments with their sign, and the payout to your house bank (transfer, negative). As a result, the bank account's balance equals your Amazon Pay balance.

As with any bank account, you can [automate](../../bank-reconciliation-automation.mdx) the retrieval.

<Callout type="info" title="When a payment is shown">
Amazon Pay creates the settlement report after an initial holding period of usually 14 days, and then usually daily. A payment is therefore shown only after Amazon Pay has settled it, not at the time of the payment itself.
</Callout>

Each report is read only once. Amazon Pay keeps reports for 90 days; the first retrieval starts at the bank account's retrieval start, but reaches back at most 89 days. The **Last Report Created At** field on the [Amazon Pay Connection Setup](connect.mdx) shows the progress of retrieval. The field is updated only after the lines are created in the payment reconciliation journal.

## Fees

The settlement report states Amazon's fees with every row. 365 business Banking creates each fee as a separate line with its own transaction ID and with the payment reference "Amazon Pay fee for `<type>`". The amount is negative for a fee and positive when a fee is credited back on a refund. This lets you post the fees separately from the payment, for example with a reconciliation rule: [Payment service provider fees](../fees.mdx).

## Apply

You apply the payments in the payment reconciliation journal. For [direct matching](../../bank-reconciliation/direct-matching.mdx), Business Central uses the SellerReferenceId (the capture or refund reference your shop passes) as the end-to-end reference if present, otherwise the SellerOrderId (the order or document number your shop passes). The payment reference also contains the type, description, order number, Amazon order reference and settlement ID. The transaction ID is the AmazonTransactionId; lines without their own transaction ID get a stable ID. Duplicates are recognized.

## Foreign currency

If a report row's currency differs from the bank account's currency, the original amount and currency are kept. They are stored with the bank transaction; on the **Bank Transaction Details** page, **Has Original Amount** is then selected. The amount is converted with the currency exchange rate valid on the posting date, even if **Fixed Exchange Rates** are set up for the bank account. If the exchange rate for the currency and date is missing, retrieval stops with a message naming the currency and date; nothing is imported. Enter the missing rate and retrieve again.

## Troubleshooting

| Message | Cause and remedy |
|---|---|
| Message names a currency and date, no exchange rate found | An exchange rate is missing for this foreign currency and posting date. Enter it and retrieve again. |
| Message names a missing column of the report | Amazon Pay changed the report format, or the report is incomplete. Business Central reads the report's columns by name; if an expected column is missing, retrieval stops instead of reading lines incorrectly. |
