# Address Validation Scope and batch improvements

Automatic address validation can be limited to sessions with or without a user interface, and batch processing shows errors directly in the overview.

**Version:** 18.10

## What's new

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the **Address Validation Scope** setup field determines whether automatic validation runs in all sessions, only in sessions with a user interface, or only in sessions without one. Batch processing (**Compare Address Batch**) shows the status per record and suggests a preferred option when there are multiple matches.

## Benefit

You can tailor automatic validation to the session type, for example limiting it to user sessions so background sessions such as the job queue are not affected. When validating multiple records in bulk, you see validation errors immediately in the overview, without opening every record individually.

## Where it is set up

You set the scope with the **Address Validation Scope** field in the [Address Validation Setup](../../setup/address-validation-setup.mdx).
