# Address directory

The address directory stores addresses that were already validated, so the same address does not have to be validated externally again.

## What's new

The **Address Data** table stores every validated address centrally together with its validation status. If a newly entered address matches an existing entry, 365 business Address Validation recognizes it as known and applies it without calling the external address validation service again.

## Benefit

Addresses that are used frequently, for example by customers and vendors at the same address, do not have to be validated externally again on every change. This shortens the save time in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and reduces the number of service calls.

## Where it is set up

The address directory works in the background without its own setup, as soon as address validation is enabled. You can see the validation status of an address on the [Manage address data](../../address-data.mdx) page.
